Ever since I started planning my trip to New Zealand I've been looking forward to visiting Waitomo caves.
There are several caves in Waitomo. I entered the cave system through an entrance called "The lost world"
To reach the bottom of the cave you have to go abseiling down a 100 mtr rope An awesome and thrilling adventure.
Waitomo caves are famous voor the glow worms. When you're in the darker regions of the cave switch off your headlights.
All of a sudden it seems like the ceilings of the cave are covered with thousands of miniature LED lights. Glow worms use bio luminescence to attract food in the dark.
At the end of the cave tour we had to climb up a 30 mtr high ladder in order to get back to the surface again.
