The National Aquarium in Napier offered me an opportunity very rarely given in public aquariums: I got to swim in one of their tanks.
And so I became part of the shark display snorkling between sharks and stingrays in their main shark exibit.
Very impressive to slowly swim alongside 2.5 meter sharks so I felt quite a guy :-)
The best part however was seeing the reactions of the children underneath me in the acrylic tunnel that runs all the way through the tank. So very sweet how they looked up and waved at me.
I hope to go swimming with seals in Kaikoura next werek so this was an excellent warming up for the real thing.
